The purpose of these explorations is to destabilize science's unquestioned hegemony and to reveal new insights on human nature. Literary theory, particularly as it relates to the novel, is shown as a tool for deconstructing and critiquing current science and science media. Defining characteristics of the novel are discussed and offered as the basis for a new model of science media. It is hoped that this new model will allow science media to both hold to its raison d'ĂȘtre and successfully engage audiences.enScience filmsLiterature and scienceCriticismLiterary theory, the novel and science mediaOf passageThesisCopyright 2008 by Meigan Gates Goodyer
