Evaluate the agronomic performance of oat varieties and development lines in crop-fallow environment in central Montana. Cool wet growing conditions in April delayed emergence and development of spring seeded cereals. Dry conditions along with much above average temperatures in June and July contributed to low yield potentials and low test weights. For some cereals tillering was reduced so test weights were not as low as in other instances. Drought conditions contributed to low yields and test weights and above normal grain protein levels.
