Abstract

The authors investigated the effect of Rb-NH4 and K-NH 4 substitution on protonic conductivity in Rb1-x(NH4)xH2PO4 (RADP) and K1-x(NH4)xH2PO 4 (KADP) crystals. The experiments were performed on samples of RADP with x=0.50, 0.77, 0.80, and 1.00 and on K0.4(NH4)0.6H2PO4 . The study was carried out in the temperature range from 140 to 380 K. Complex impedance measurements were carried out in the frequency range from 11 Hz to 100 kHz, using a General Electric 1616 bridge. The temperature was stabilized to within ±0.1 K. The RADP crystals showed strong dependence of the DC conductivity on composition. For some compositions, conductivity differed by three orders at moderate temperatures. The AC conductivity of the KADP 0.6 crystal showed amorphouslike behavior below 240 K
