Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine whether the implementation of the communication app, BAND, in the science classroom would increase student performance and accountability. The BAND app was added to parents' phones or computers to receive updates and messages from the teacher in the science classroom. Students of the 2022-2023 (pre-treatment) school year were compared to the students of the 2023-24 (post-treatment) school year. Quarterly grades, surveys, interviews, missing assignments, as well as parent, student, and teacher quotations were all analyzed to determine any gains. The analyzed data indicates that there was no significant increase or decrease in student performance. Qualitative data showed an increase in communication and positive relationships between home and school.
