MET Finds download link. Downloaded with right click. Rights not obvious. “Open external search” search term -> “rights related to works of art in a museum” Would have to do some research. Reuse: right click over image. Review MLA guidelines. Do you cite the website URL? Wouldn’t worry about it too much. I don’t tend to worry about reuse rights. I’m not making a profit. Social media: save image. Log in to facebook in a new tab. I don’t tend to share a lot. I will ignore share buttons. I didn’t even think to check for them. If they were prominent, maybe. Lots of scrolling. Forward/back arrows: I assume these are related. Instinct is to just click around. Eventually finds related objects. Liked looking at the object on its own unsurrounded by distracting metadata. IU Physical location: a bit lost in the metadata. Location of image or location of object? Maybe Cushman ID? Jargony. Can’t find answer. Somewhere in Indiana University. Would call or email someone. Social media: log into facebook. Would depend on how i want to share it. Usually will add link to item page or image itself. Will use links. Sometimes use share button. Facebook is the only social media i use. Download: i don’t see a download button. Right click to save. Rights: saw the link at the bottom of the page. What is “scholarly reproduction.” ? Related objects: hovers over and clicks “roll number” What do we mean by related? Looks at subjects headings. I’m really into fences. Thinks that some images are not by the same photographer. Reuse: save and copy. Would probably cite using MLA. Inquire about “scholarly reproduction.” Would call my friend who works in a museum. Not as aesthetically pleasing as the MET. Junk to the right was small and distracting. LOC Share: I see the share button, but it doesn’t look like the buttons I’m used to. I would just share the link manually. Share link actually broken though. Annoying. Download: I see these JPEG links right here. TIFF? Not sure what that is. Rights: Sees rights advisory heading. Physical location: selects “access to original” tab. Goes back to main page and finds “repository” heading. See “rights assessment is your responsibility.” Clicks MARC record -> “I don’t know exactly what that is.” Ultimately would ask someone who works there. Reuse: click into image and save. Sees Copyright in the “notes” section. “I don’t know much about copyright law. I don’t know when material moved into the public domain. I wouldn’t know.” Clicks “obtaining copies” tab. Next move would be to open a new tab and go to the OWL site or MLA site and figure out how to cite and use images. Haven’t looked over the new MLA guidelines. Related: finds related link beneath image. But is initially unsure about “call number.” NAU Related: scrolls down. Finds links in description heading -> “I’m sure that the answer to this is somewhere in this big mess of links.” might just use the search box to guess at related keywords. Explores a bit in the layered headings. “Frustrating to find related objects on this site.” Physical location: Finds “call number.” And “repository” Rights: finds the “rights” heading. Would then write a letter to ask permission. Download: finds download button. But the file download was broken. So then finds the download arrow in the PDF viewer, but that only downloads one page at a time. Then tried “print” button. But could only print one at a time. “This feels like a mess to me.” That would be frustrating to download one page at a time. I would want to mark things up the way that i want to. If I was super-desperate, maybe I would do that. Share: “I don’t think they want me doing that.” I would save image or link and share manually. Doesn’t see any share buttons. Reuse: Would need permission. I would contact the library and ask if I would reuse it. I don’t see any easy way to download the file, so I would ask about that too. There were some real glitches. Seemed like they didn’t want me to reuse the object. Super not fun to use. MSU Download: right clicks image. Finds “document PDF” -> “Uh, what’s this? Oh, that’s cool.” I see now that I might be able to use “document PDF”. I don’t know what to do with “persistent link.” Share: i see the buttons. It’s probably 50/50 whether i click here or share manually. Might use buttons because they’re prominent and simpler. Rights: scrolls down. Finds copyright section.[a] Physical location: quickly finds “special collection locations.” Reuse: either download PDF or save image. Likes preferred citation, but would check it against the citation format required by my journal. Related: clicks on special collections locations. Not sure about “contextual topic links.” I guess I could jump out to wikipedia. Clicks around to find doig homepage, then about page. For the things you’re asking, it’s pretty easy to use and straightforward. DPLA Download: finds “save to” button. But needs to sign in first. Not going to do that. Then just clicks on the image. Kinda confused by the layered digital collections. The next digital collection down was more useful. Share: sees social icons in the footer. Color coding share buttons really help. Reuse: finds rights heading. CC license: i have no idea of what that means. “I think you can just use things in the Creative Commons.” If I were using this for academic purposes, I would give attribution to leslie jones. Would look up MLA guidelines. Physical location: in the boston public library. Related: hovers over subject-> children. That feels pretty broad to me. Finds “more like this” on the subsequent page of “digital commonwealth” site. Rights: finds rights heading.
