Abstract

The dominant forces guiding the progression and digestion of science throughout time have lacked a crucial component for retention and empathy: story. So much of our science comes from laboratories; sterile environments devoid of art, aesthetic, or deeper human connection. This is beginning to change however, thanks to the work of people like Christopher Boyer; a pilot, photographer, and river engineer whose passions have coalesced to challenge the longstanding disconnect between science and story, outreach and art. Through a collection of his images, life stories, and lessons from above, we will portray his unique ability to observe and chronicle our ever-changing planet. In turn, we hope that viewers will feel inspired to ponder their own land ethic in the same wide-angle view as Chris.
