Abstract
In today’s high school mathematics classrooms, instruction is traditionally teacher-centered in nature where students are simply passive recipients of knowledge. Research suggests that for students to learn, they need to be active participants in their own learning. The desire to change the traditionally taught math class to a student-centered approach guides this educational scholarship. It involves an integration of a revised classroom routine and opportunities to engage students in active learning through inquiry-based opportunities. This approach involves using teaching strategies that bring students into the learning, guiding them to be constructors of their own knowledge. The materials and resources that were created provides a way for active learning to be possible in a secondary math class.
