Methods for direct and indirect measurements of biofilm development (fouling) are presented. Laboratory systems were developed to determine rate and extent of fouling as a function of wall shear stress, water quality, and bulk temperature. Experimental systems were also developed to evaluate the effects of oxidizing biocides and to compare their relative efficiency.en_US
