Academic Technology and Outreach (ATO) is a unified effort of the Office of the Provost and University Information Technology designed to work across MSU—serving and supporting faculty, staff, and students wherever they are located—to advance MSU’s capacity and reputation to build, deliver, and support academic excellence in teaching and learning with a focus on quality, access, and innovation. Academic Technology and Outreach builds and maintains our classroom and eLearning ecosystem and supports our land-grant mission through unique and innovative opportunities for outreach and engagement. It represents a unique bridge between information technology and academic support and combines personnel and operational resources from the UIT Instructional Technology unit and what was formerly known as MSU Extended University. • MSU’s Center for Faculty Excellence supports the professional development of all faculty (tenure-track and non-tenure track) across all career stages in the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, outreach/service and leadership. Guided by faculty interests and goals, and the values of innovation, collaboration, and partnerships, the Center is a place where faculty members connect to share knowledge and skills that support each other’s growth in an inclusive environment where diversity and individual difference are understood, respected, appreciated and recognized as a source of strength. The Center offers workshops, seminars, discussion groups, mentoring opportunities, and grants to support professional development. We also facilitate relationships and connections among faculty and connect them to services, offices, and student organizations on campus. The Center organizes Faculty Learning Communities on multiple topics, offers grant opportunities (Instructional Innovation and Scholarly Grants), and recognizes faculty achievements through the Instructional Innovation, President’s Excellence in Teaching, Advising, and Service-Learning Awards.
