dc.description.abstract | My project is a criticism of consumerism and the advertising industry, both of which are the forces that manufacture modern culture and social values. By cutting up and arranging junk mail and other paper-based advertisements, I constructed collages that examine society's relationship with mass media, as well as the environmental impact of mass-produced advertisements that are forced on every household non-consensually. The result is a series of photographs that ranged from, bright, colorful and detailed “explosions,” to simple, isolated and monumental images, to text-dominated compositions. | en_US |
